Have you ever been in the position where you are looking for some free software that is simple to use and is not a demo. Well, often the best examples of this is open source, made by really people, with real minds and who don't want to squeeze money from you. Well, the best ones I have found are Firefox (which if you know nothing is a web browser) and Audacity (which is a sound editor). Both of which are easy to use and do their job efectively and bug free.
One website, where you can find thousands of Open Source projects on is Sourceforge. it also gives you the oportunity and software to make your own.
