HMV!!! Don't do it!!!

Oh no. They just had to mess up Christmas for everybody. HMV (his master's voice, for the unexperienced musician), one of the UK's leading music retailers, have announced a partnership with none other the Microsoft to start a new music download service to take on Apple in the music download market. Microsoft are never happy! Just because Apple finally led the way in something, they felt they had to bust their way in and spend £10m to make sure that it didn't get out of hand. All the music will be in window's media format (WMA! Nooo!) predictably, but there has been no decision on pricing yet. Somebody who has something to do with HMV says:
"We have a unique opportunity to leverage the HMV brand, customer base and our store network to establish a strong position in the newly emerging market for paid-for music downloads. HMV Group is delighted to be working with Microsoft to create the software for this exciting development."
Which basically means that they don't like not being best at something, so they are going to go to any means to try and be best at it. Life's not fair.
