Risk-free Linux

If you don't like IE, you use FireFox. If you don't like Outlook, you use Thunderbird. But what if you don't like Windows? You either get a Mac, or switch to Linux. However, if you've never tried Linux you may be a bit worried. What if you want to change back? Don't worry, Live CDs are here to help. Live CDs can be downloaded from the internet (here's a good list), burned to a CD and then you just get into your BIOS, change your boot priority to CD-ROM before HD and stick the CD in! The CDs are bootable, and don't touch your precious hard drive data. Only problem is the file sizes are a bit large. The best one at the moment is Knoppix, and this serves as a Windows replacement. These .iso files are all completely free, so you might as well try them out. File sizes range from a couple of megs to almost a gig, so some lengthy downloading times await, even over broadband. I might try one of these out one day, but not anytime soon, as I don't think I'd be able to fit a 700MB download into two hours. Oh well.
